bam-masterdata is an open-source Python package for defining,
managing, validating, and exchanging metadata schemas used in
the BAM Data Store, an institutional research data management
infrastructure at the Federal Institute for Materials Research
and Testing (BAM). The package provides reusable definitions
of research objects, property types, and controlled vocabularies
for materials science and engineering workflows. It supports
version-controlled schema management, validation, and export
to machine-readable formats, including JSON and RDF, as well as
integration with openBIS. The project aims to facilitate
metadata harmonization, interoperability, and FAIR-oriented
research data management across heterogeneous scientific workflows.
