Full Fold Camera v143.3.3 proposal

This is a complete camera-app feature set, not a panorama-only PR. Following the request to submit a PR in #308, I am proposing the complete Fold Camera v143.3.3 changes together in one review: capture modes, customizable mode navigation, image processing, dual cameras, and foldable support.

I understand this is a substantial diff and upstream maintainers may ask for code changes or a narrower scope. The proposal deliberately presents the entire package together.

1. Customizable camera modes and the More menu

This is an application-wide UI feature, not specific to panoramas:

  • Move/reorder camera modes in the main strip via drag-and-drop.
  • Hide less-used modes in a dedicated More menu while keeping them accessible.
  • Launch hidden modes directly from More, or restore them to the main mode strip using the plus action.
  • Select a mode and use the editor's "Paste here" placement slots for precise insertion.
  • Browse the editor with a horizontal scroll bar and auto-scroll when dragging near the edges.
  • Remember the selected mode order and visible/hidden state in preferences.
  • Support applicable normal modes, Dual Photo, Dual Video, Panorama 360, and foldable shortcuts where supported by the device.

Key sources: BottomTabLayout, ModeEditorOrder, CamConfig.

2. Panorama modes

  • 180-degree and 360-degree panoramas with distinct mode behavior.
  • On-device frame registration, stitching, alignment, motion tracking, seam handling, and output/memory safeguards.
  • Capture progress and processing feedback.

3. On-device portrait processing

  • Portrait photography with locally bundled ONNX segmentation and depth-estimation models.
  • Background blur/compositing, depth handling, and portrait processing controls.
  • Inference designed to run offline without a remote service.

4. Dual cameras and foldable hardware

  • Dual Photo and Dual Video using picture-in-picture or split-screen composition.
  • Live placement/size adjustments for PiP and layout continuity between dual modes.
  • Composited Dual Photo snapshots and still-photo capture during Dual Video recording.
  • Rear-camera selfie and secondary-display preview features on supported foldables.
  • Hardware availability and concurrent CameraX support depend on the device.

5. Other camera modes and improvements

  • Manual/Pro controls, burst photography, slow motion, hyperlapse, interval capture, and light trails.
  • Ordinary photo/video capture and QR/barcode scanning.
  • Settings and interface improvements, mode transitions, processing and capture feedback.

Review considerations

  • This PR intentionally includes the full app enhancement package as one contribution, affecting source, UI, settings, dependencies, resources, and bundled portrait model files.
  • GrapheneOS Camera remains the upstream foundation, with its copyright and license preserved. Third-party components retain their separate credits and obligations.
  • The independent v143.3.3 release APK is available for testing. This upstream-targeted PR has not been established as passing upstream CI, lint, or comprehensive device tests; please review dependencies, licensing, performance, hardware compatibility, and privacy/security properties.
  • My earlier foldable-focused PR Add rear-camera selfie and dual-screen preview support for foldables #779 remains separate and unchanged. Some functionality may overlap.
  • I would appreciate continued credit to @bigtechstruggler for the fork-specific contributions and preservation of the existing engine/module names where technically practical. This is a request, not a new license requirement.

Thank you for considering this work. In particular, please note that the reorderable camera mode strip, More menu, and other full-app changes are a substantial part of this submission alongside panorama, portrait, and dual-camera engines.

Bring the complete independently developed Fold Camera v143.3.3 application into one reviewable branch, including panorama, portrait, dual-camera modes, extra capture modes, UI changes, Android build files, attribution and bundled model assets. This is proposed for review, not automatically accepted.
