macOS: docked DevTools top tool tabs intermittently ignore mouse clicks until reopened #467

Problem

On macOS, the top toolbar of docked Edge DevTools intermittently stops accepting mouse clicks after opening the inspector. Tools such as Elements, Network, Console and Sources cannot be selected. Closing and reopening DevTools temporarily restores interaction. This interrupts normal debugging repeatedly.

User-reported reproduction

1. Open a website in Edge.
2. Open the docked DevTools inspector.
3. Attempt to click the top tool tabs.
4. Intermittently the tabs do not respond; close and reopen DevTools to recover.

The affected user reports this on every website, not only their local application. DevTools was observed docked to the right.

Environment

• macOS 27.0, build 26A5378j.
• Running Edge framework version observed: 155.0.4283.62.
• Installed application version: 156.0.4314.42; a full browser relaunch to test that installed version has not yet been performed.
• AdBlock and Adblock Plus DevTools tabs are present. Extension-free reproduction has NOT been established.

Investigation and limits

An automated accessibility click successfully selected Network on a neutral example.com test tab, so the intermittent failure was not independently reproduced during that test. The local Quick Capture extension manifest has only downloads/offscreen permissions and no content scripts or devtools_page; there is no evidence currently linking that extension to the failure. This does not rule out other extensions or browser UI interaction.

Enabled the existing “Use Command + 1-9 to switch panels” setting as a keyboard fallback. A durable fix has not been verified. Could the team advise whether this is a known docked-DevTools hit-testing/focus issue and what diagnostic evidence would be useful?
