docs(release): consolidate source and umbrella release guidance - #2881
Release guidance still mixed retired GitLab jobs, standalone tags and local image pushes with the current source-release and umbrella workflows. Consolidate the entry points and correct the boundaries between stack source releases, producer availability, runtime QA, customer publication and docs activation.
Additional Details
Keep source versioning in docs/dev/github-release-process.md and product assembly/promotion in docs/dev/umbrella-releases.md. Replace obsolete procedures with routing links, update component guidance and clarify chart appVersion behavior. Preserve frozen editions and release history. Normalize touched prose to repository style.
For the Reviewer
Start with RELEASE.md and the two owning guides. This changes documentation and agent guidance only.
For QA
Markdown lint, relative-link checks, tools/ci/check-docs, tools/ci/preview-docs --check, external-link validation and diff checks passed. Fern skipped its authenticated redirects check because no login was available. Runtime QA is not required for these documentation changes.
Existing documentation checks cover these changes.

Summary by CodeRabbit
Documentation
Updated release guidance for component versioning, maintenance branches, source tags, artifact verification, and separate image, chart, stack, and umbrella release workflows.
Clarified that umbrella releases require qualification of the selected stack combination, while component source releases and inventories can be published independently.
Explained that chart versions and application image versions are separate, and that successful product bundle publication does not activate maintained documentation.
Updated build and deployment instructions to reference current release workflows; local builds do not publish releases.
Removed outdated manual registry-push instructions and descriptions of retired GitLab release lanes.

Walkthrough
The pull request updates release and contribution guidance across the repository. It replaces retired GitLab release and image-publishing instructions with guidance for component source releases, publication handoffs, umbrella qualification, and documentation editions.
Repository guidance describes component and stack release paths and directs readers to current workflows. It distinguishes chart versioning from the application image version and identifies the changelog-site GitLab integration as historical.
Component instructions replace manual image publication and standalone release steps with monorepo release guidance. Formatting edits retain documented component behavior.
Umbrella and docs qualification docs/dev/github-release-process.md, docs/dev/umbrella-releases.md, docs/dev/docs-editions.md
The guides separate stable source releases and inventories from umbrella qualification and publication. They describe qualification evidence, candidate handling, and legacy versus maintained documentation editions.
The updated guidance is mergeable based on the supplied evidence; no actionable release-documentation issue remains identified.
