* **SECURITY ISSUE**:
  :func:`~cryptography.hazmat.primitives.serialization.pkcs7.pkcs7_decrypt_der`
  and its PEM and S/MIME variants no longer expose distinguishable errors or
  timing when unwrapping a ``RecipientInfo``'s ``encryptedKey``, which could
  act as a Bleichenbacher oracle for callers that decrypt untrusted messages.
  A random key is now substituted on failure, as described in :rfc:`3218`.
  Credit to **@X1AOxiang** for reporting the issue. **CVE-2026-69247**
* Deprecated Diffie-Hellman key exchange over finite fields (FFDH).
  Everything FFDH is deprecated, including the types in
  ``cryptography.hazmat.primitives.asymmetric.dh`` and loading FFDH keys or
  parameters with the key loading APIs. Users should migrate to a more
  modern key exchange algorithm.
* Added ``xof()`` class methods to
  :class:`~cryptography.hazmat.primitives.hashes.SHAKE128` and
  :class:`~cryptography.hazmat.primitives.hashes.SHAKE256` for constructing
  algorithm instances configured for use with
  :class:`~cryptography.hazmat.primitives.hashes.XOFHash`.
* The :mod:`X.509 verification <cryptography.x509.verification>` APIs are now
  considered stable and are subject to our API stability policy.
* Added the :doc:`/cobblestone` recipe, an implementation of the
  Cobblestone-128 and Cobblestone-256 instantiations of the `C2SP
  chunked-encryption specification
  <https://c2sp.org/chunked-encryption>`_ for streaming authenticated
  encryption of large messages.
* Parsing a Signed Certificate Timestamp list now rejects encodings that
  carry trailing bytes after the list or after an individual SCT, instead of
  silently ignoring them.
* Added support for using :class:`~cryptography.x509.Name` as a field type in
  the :doc:`/hazmat/asn1/index` module.
* Loading a public key or an EC private key now rejects DER where the
  ``subjectPublicKey`` (or EC ``publicKey``) ``BIT STRING`` declares a non-zero
  number of unused bits, instead of silently ignoring it.
* Parsing a CRL entry's ``InvalidityDate`` extension now rejects a
  ``GeneralizedTime`` that carries fractional seconds or another non-DER form,
  matching the strict encoding already required for every other X.509 time
  field.
* :func:`~cryptography.x509.ocsp.load_der_ocsp_request` and
  :func:`~cryptography.x509.ocsp.load_der_ocsp_response` now reject a request
  or response whose ``version`` field is not ``v1``, the only version defined
  by RFC 6960, matching the version validation already performed when loading
  certificates, CSRs and CRLs.
* :class:`~cryptography.hazmat.primitives.hashes.XOFHash` is now supported
  when building against AWS-LC.
* HMAC (and therefore PBKDF2-HMAC) with SHA-3 hashes is now supported when
  building against AWS-LC.
* Diffie-Hellman (:doc:`/hazmat/primitives/asymmetric/dh`) is now supported
  when building against AWS-LC.

Updates pytest from 9.0.2 to 9.0.3

Release notes

Sourced from pytest's releases.

9.0.3

pytest 9.0.3 (2026-04-07)

Bug fixes

  • #12444: Fixed pytest.approx which now correctly takes into account ~collections.abc.Mapping keys order to compare them.

  • #13634: Blocking a conftest.py file using the -p no: option is now explicitly disallowed.

    Previously this resulted in an internal assertion failure during plugin loading.

    Pytest now raises a clear UsageError explaining that conftest files are not plugins and cannot be disabled via -p.

  • #13734: Fixed crash when a test raises an exceptiongroup with __tracebackhide__ = True.

  • #14195: Fixed an issue where non-string messages passed to unittest.TestCase.subTest() were not printed.

  • #14343: Fixed use of insecure temporary directory (CVE-2025-71176).

Improved documentation

  • #13388: Clarified documentation for -p vs PYTEST_PLUGINS plugin loading and fixed an incorrect -p example.
  • #13731: Clarified that capture fixtures (e.g. capsys and capfd) take precedence over the -s / --capture=no command-line options in Accessing captured output from a test function <accessing-captured-output>.
  • #14088: Clarified that the default pytest_collection hook sets session.items before it calls pytest_collection_finish, not after.
  • #14255: TOML integer log levels must be quoted: Updating reference documentation.

Contributor-facing changes

  • #12689: The test reports are now published to Codecov from GitHub Actions. The test statistics is visible on the web interface.

Updates anyio from 4.12.1 to 4.14.2

Release notes

Sourced from anyio's releases.

4.14.2

  • Changed ByteReceiveStream.receive() implementations to raise a ValueError when max_bytes is not a positive integer (#1191)
  • Fixed CapacityLimiter.total_tokens rejecting float("inf") when the limiter was instantiated outside of an event loop. The adapter setter checked for infinity by identity (value is math.inf), so only the exact math.inf singleton was accepted, while every backend setter (using math.isinf()) accepts any positive infinity (#1189; PR by @greymoth-jp).
  • Fixed to_process.run_sync() deadlocking when the worker function writes enough data to sys.stderr to fill the (undrained) pipe buffer. The worker process now redirects sys.stderr to os.devnull as well, matching the documented behavior
  • Fixed TLSStream.wrap() matching an internationalized (unicode) host name against the peer certificate using IDNA 2003 (via the standard library) instead of IDNA 2008, which could cause the host name to be matched against the wrong certificate (#1208)
  • Fixed anyio.open_process() (and run_process()) ignoring the extra_groups argument, as it mistakenly passed the value of the group argument instead (#1209)
  • Fixed CapacityLimiter.acquire_nowait() and CapacityLimiter.acquire_nowait_on_behalf_of() raising trio.WouldBlock instead of anyio.WouldBlock on the trio backend when there are no tokens available (#1218)
  • Fixed CapacityLimiter on the asyncio backend over-granting tokens (borrowed_tokens exceeding total_tokens and available_tokens going negative) when a non-blocking acquire was made in the window between a token being released and the notified waiter resuming. The freed token is now reserved for the woken waiter right away, so the non-blocking acquire correctly raises WouldBlock (#1170; PR by @gaoflow)
  • Fixed unnecessary CPU spin when delivering cancellation from CancelScope on asyncio under certain conditions, including improper cancel scope nesting (#1111)

4.14.1

  • Fixed teardown of higher-scoped async fixtures failing on asyncio with RuntimeError: Attempted to exit cancel scope in a different task than it was entered in when an async test raise an outcome exception (e.g., pytest.skip(), pytest.xfail(), or pytest.fail()) (#1179; PR by @EmmanuelNiyonshuti)
  • Fixed CapacityLimiter.total_tokens rejecting a value of 0 when the limiter was instantiated outside of an event loop, contradicting the documented behavior of allowing 0 total tokens (#1183; PR by @nyxst4ck)

4.14.0

  • Added support for Python 3.15

  • Added an asynchronous implementation of the itertools module (#998; PR by @11kkw)

  • Added the local_port parameter to connect_tcp() to allow binding to a specific local port before connecting (#1067; PR by @nullwiz)

  • Added support for custom capacity limiters in async path and file I/O functions and classes

  • Added the create_task() task group method for easier asyncio migration (returns a TaskHandle) (#1098)

  • Changed TaskGroup.start_soon() to return a TaskHandle

  • Added an option for TaskGroup.start() to return a TaskHandle (which then contains the start value in the start_value property)

  • Added the cancel() convenience method to TaskGroup as a shortcut for cancelling the task group's cancel scope

  • Improved the error message when a known backend is not installed to suggest the install command (#1115; PR by @EmmanuelNiyonshuti)

  • Improved anyio.Path to preserve subclass types by returning Self in methods that return path objects (#1130; PR by @EmmanuelNiyonshuti)

  • Changed the parameter type annotation in anyio.Path.write_bytes() to accept any ReadableBuffer, thus allowing it to accept bytearray and memoryview to match pathlib.Path.write_bytes() (#1135; PR by @SAY-5)

  • Changed several type annotations to only accept callables returning coroutine-like objects instead of arbitrary awaitables:

    • TaskGroup.start_soon()
    • TaskGroup.start()
    • anyio.from_thread.run()

    This reverts an earlier change from v3.7.0 which was made in error. (#1153)

  • Changed anyio.run to support callables returning arbitrary awaitables at runtime on all backends. Previously, this only worked on asyncio (#1171; PR by @gschaffner)

  • Changed several classes (and their subclasses) to have __slots__ (with __weakref__):

    • anyio.CancelScope

Updates filelock from 3.25.1 to 4.2.1

Release notes

Sourced from filelock's releases.

4.2.1

Bug fixes

  • On a singleton wrapper, AsyncReadWriteLock.close() and AsyncSoftReadWriteLock.close() end only the holds that tasks acquired through that wrapper. A reader that arrives during close() gets the closed error instead of joining the ending hold. After synchronous code closes or force-releases the shared lock, the wrappers refuse to admit readers into the ended hold, and close() on such a wrapper returns. Closing one wrapper no longer ends a task's nested hold taken through another wrapper on the same path. #832 by @gaborbernat.
  • ReadWriteLock locks again after a release() that an exception from a signal handler interrupted. The async read-write wrappers stop admitting readers into such a level. The async read-write locks forget a hold whose backend release failed after the backend let go, and they free the memory of each acquire that times out or is canceled. AsyncFileLock returns from release() after a few hundred acquires gave up behind a waiting one. An exception from a signal handler delivered while an AsyncFileLock call joins its queue no longer blocks every later call on that lock. #833 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix ReadWriteLock acting on -journal, -wal or -shm files another process puts beside its database: a write could land in another file, a reader could get in beside a writer, and an acquire could fail. SQLite now opens the database by name only in a directory no other account can write, and through a private hard link elsewhere. On Windows the directory's access control list decides. Where hard links are unavailable, keep the database in a directory other accounts cannot write, such as one under %LOCALAPPDATA%. The lock removes link directories through a checked descriptor rather than by name, reads a link directory's name only when the locking account owns it, and leaves alone a directory with other content renamed onto a link directory's name. A database whose schema takes more than a few kilobytes to load raises ValueError instead of running past the acquire timeout. #834 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix five bugs in opening the lock file. UnixFileLock no longer truncates a file it did not create, such as one renamed to the lock path, and no longer applies mode to it. An on_acquired hook that writes holder metadata now truncates the file itself. A lease (Linux) or an oplock (Windows) on the lock file or a soft lock's marker no longer holds acquire() past its timeout or blocking=False, and an oplock no longer holds release(); ReadWriteLock on Windows waits for its timeout and raises Timeout. On Windows, a mode without group and other bits, such as 0o600, now creates the lock file with an owner-only permission list; the ReadWriteLock database gets the same. The soft locks' writability check no longer follows a symlink swapped in at the lock path. On a filesystem without flock, a contender from another account now waits on a marker it cannot write instead of raising PermissionError. #835 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix SoftFileLock, MarkerSoftFileLock and SoftFileLease removing a live holder's marker in three cases: the holder and the contender run in Linux time namespaces with different boottime offsets; only one of them can read the boot id; a process other than the owner rewrote the marker. Soft markers no longer carry group or other write bits. A process name containing a carriage return or another line separator no longer makes the stale check raise ValueError. When /proc/self/ns/time exists but cannot be read, the stale check no longer compares start times and keeps the marker. #836 by @gaborbernat.
  • The async read-write locks record their hold under a task owner, so synchronous code on the executor thread that took the hold can no longer re-enter or release it. AsyncSoftReadWriteLock gives back one level on release, so synchronous readers of a shared singleton keep theirs. SoftReadWriteLock tracks read levels per thread: release() from a thread that holds none raises RuntimeError. After its heartbeat recorded a lost hold, it refuses new acquires until that hold is released. #838 by @gaborbernat.
  • StrictSoftFileLock creates <path>.filelock and its claims directory with the lock's mode and sets the sticky bit (a directory flag that lets only a file's owner remove it) on both. On the next acquisition it narrows a directory it owns that an earlier release created wider; it leaves a directory of another account as it is, so remove such leftovers by hand. It reaches claims through a descriptor opened without following symlinks; on Windows it holds both directories open and refuses a junction (a directory that points at another directory). Under a sticky parent such as /tmp it refuses a coordination directory of another account, as SoftReadWriteLock does for <path>.rw. One read grace now covers a whole claim scan, a failed claim cleanup no longer leaves the sentinel descriptor open, and a non-regular node at a sentinel private-record name raises SoftFileLockProtocolError. On Windows, contenders read claims without blocking their owner's unlink. #839 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix a lock reporting a hold the OS had dropped after a signal handler raised during acquire or release. A release that a signal handler cuts short after it has started now completes before the error propagates. A handler that acquires the lock its own thread is releasing now gets RuntimeError instead of a hold that stays held. The singleton cache no longer hands out an is_singleton=True lock or a ReadWriteLock whose finalizer is running, which released the new holder's lock. A signal during os.fork() no longer leaves the other threads blocked in their next lock call, and a fork from another thread no longer waits for a ReadWriteLock acquire on a busy database. #840 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix a lock on a relative path locking a file in the directory the process changed to while the lock waited, and leaving its marker behind on release after such a change. The path resolved when an acquisition starts stays in use until the hold ends. An is_singleton=True lookup no longer returns a cached lock whose relative path now resolves to another file; a held lock still matches the file it holds. A rename of the lock's directory during a hold no longer leaves the marker behind or reports a false lease compromise, and a waiter no longer creates a second lock file in a directory that was renamed away. #841 by @gaborbernat.
  • SoftReadWriteLock reaches its records through descriptors of <path>.rw and gen or holders opened without following symlinks. On Windows it holds those directories open and refuses a junction (a directory that points at another directory). A tree swapped in after an earlier acquire therefore cannot redirect them. Its heartbeat rewrites a holder record only when the name still leads to the file it created, and does not block on a FIFO (a named pipe). A heartbeat that finds <path>.rw replaced by a symlink or junction reports the hold lost instead of ending the heartbeat thread. A live lock object repeats the ownership check whenever the tree it opens is not the one it prepared. #842 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix SoftFileLock, MarkerSoftFileLock and SoftFileLease removing or displacing a live holder's marker in five cases. ext4 gave a freed inode number to the next marker. A stalled FileLock removed its ENOSYS placeholder after a peer replaced it. A failed acquire cleaned up after a successor took the path. A stale break left the lock path empty while it checked the marker it had moved. A lifetime break judged a marker by a reused inode number. On Linux and macOS a stale marker now changes hands in one atomic exchange. On other platforms without one, except Windows, including NFS and SMB, the marker stays in place and waits for timeout or break_lock(). Restoring a marker no longer follows a symlink found under the break name. A holder that releases while a peer's exchange has its marker aside leaves a record no lock parses, so the put-back lands a marker that ages out. A lease heartbeat that finds another file at the lock path once, while a peer's break has its marker aside, waits for the next refresh before it reports a compromise. A contender that finds a dead breaker's marker puts back the marker that breaker left under its break name. A marker is the breaker's own only when it names the breaker's process on this host; the same process number on another host is a holder. A contender takes a stranded marker under a name of its own before it puts the marker back, so two contenders no longer reverse each other's exchange and remove the live holder's marker. A claim left behind by a failed put-back is retried on the next poll. #843 by @gaborbernat.
  • Canceling an AsyncReadWriteLock or AsyncSoftReadWriteLock acquire that waits for another process now stops the wait and raises the cancellation. It used to wait until that process released, or raise Timeout. A thread_local=True AsyncFileLock that threads with their own event loops share no longer deadlocks when one thread waits for the lock while another holds it. #844 by @gaborbernat.
  • SoftReadWriteLock refuses a commit that lands a whole retention window behind the log, so two committers stalled at adjacent generations can no longer admit a second writer. Its stale check samples the clock before it reads a holder record, so a pause between the two no longer counts as time the record stayed unchanged. #845 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix a SoftFileLock contender evicting an empty marker after two seconds while its owner held the lock. The owner is a SoftFileLock before 3.22, which writes nothing into its marker, or a current one still writing its record. An empty marker now reads as held, and timeout, lifetime or break_lock() clears it. A contender that finds an empty marker a dead breaker left aside puts it back instead of removing it. #846 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix ReadWriteLock on Windows acting on -journal and -wal files another account places beside its database: an acquire could fail with OperationalError, or SQLite could replay the journal and delete the file it names. The lock now reads the database directory's access control list. Where an account other than the locking account, SYSTEM and Administrators can add or remove names, SQLite opens a hard link inside a directory only those accounts can write. A filesystem without hard links raises OSError. #854 by @gaborbernat.
  • Fix SoftReadWriteLock subclasses sharing singleton instances with the base class or sibling subclasses. Each concrete class now keeps its own cache and construction guard, including after fork, while preserving cooperative class-definition keywords. #855 by @AryanRG.

4.2.6 (2026-10-31)

.. _release-4-2-6-fixed:

Fixed

  • Fix a race in :class:~filelock.SoftFileLock, :class:~filelock.MarkerSoftFileLock and :class:~filelock.SoftFileLease when three or more contenders reclaim a dead marker. The race could strand a live holder's marker under a break name, leaving the lock unusable or admitting a second holder. Contenders now recheck the marker before exchanging names and unwind nested exchanges in order. If the filesystem refuses a return exchange, the contender leaves its marker at the lock path for later recovery (:pr:899) by :user:dxbjavid and :user:gaborbernat.

.. _release-4-2-5:

4.2.5 (2026-10-30)

.. _release-4-2-5-fixed:

Fixed

  • :meth:~filelock.BaseFileLock.acquire and :meth:~filelock.BaseAsyncFileLock.acquire raise :class:TypeError for a blocking that is not a :class:bool, as the constructor and the blocking setter already do. A truthy value such as the string "false" used to count as True, so a call meant as a single attempt waited for the instance's timeout, and without a limit at the default -1 (:pr:870) by :user:simpleqt and :user:gaborbernat.
  • A :class:~filelock.SoftFileLock acquisition whose first read of its new marker's identity failed reads it again before rolling back. On Windows the rollback could otherwise not recognize the marker it had created, and the empty marker it left blocked the path for every later acquisition, since no contender breaks an empty marker (:pr:869) by :user:simpleqt and :user:gaborbernat.
  • A fork() child of a process holding a :class:~filelock.SoftFileLease starts from an unheld claim. It used to inherit the parent's token, last compromise and heartbeat, so :attr:~filelock.SoftFileLease.token and :attr:~filelock.SoftFileLease.compromise reported a claim the child never held while is_locked reported it unheld (:pr:868) by :user:dxbjavid and :user:gaborbernat.
  • A nested acquire of a held :class:~filelock.FileLock or :class:~filelock.SoftFileLock no longer creates the lock

Updates virtualenv from 21.2.0 to 21.15.2

Release notes

Sourced from virtualenv's releases.

21.15.2

Bug fixes

  • Build the default application data folder only when no folder was given through --app-data, VIRTUALENV_APP_DATA or the configuration file, so --read-only-app-data with an explicit folder works when the default folder is missing, and writable runs stop creating an unused one. Folders from VIRTUALENV_APP_DATA and the configuration file now get the same checks as --app-data (#3488) by @darrenhuai and @gaborbernat.
  • Build the seed wheel image in a staging folder and move it into place only once it is complete, so an extraction that fails part way, for example on a full disk, after a killed process or on a path over the Windows length limit, no longer leaves a partial image that later runs seed as a pip without METADATA, RECORD or INSTALLER (#3487) by @darrenhuai and @gaborbernat.
  • Make -p/--python and --try-first-with replace the interpreters set by VIRTUALENV_PYTHON, VIRTUALENV_TRY_FIRST_WITH or the configuration file instead of being merged with them, so the configured interpreter no longer wins over the one asked for and a -p that finds nothing fails instead of falling back to it. Try several VIRTUALENV_PYTHON values in the order given rather than starting with the second (#3494) by @darrenhuai and @gaborbernat.
  • On Windows, re-create an environment in place when its copied interpreter files, such as python.exe, or its seeded packages are read-only, instead of failing with PermissionError (#3492) by @darrenhuai and @gaborbernat.
  • Reject an empty or whitespace-only destination. An empty one, and on Windows one made only of spaces, resolved to the current directory, so an unset VENV in virtualenv --clear "$VENV" deleted the working directory. Pass . to create the environment in the current directory (#3491) by @darrenhuai and @gaborbernat.
  • Restore the default prompt in deactivate.bat when PROMPT was undefined at activation, instead of leaving the environment name in front of it (#3489) by @darrenhuai.
  • Undefine PATH again in deactivate.bat when it was undefined at activation, instead of leaving the environment's Scripts folder on it, and stop a second activate.bat from adding that folder twice (#3493) by @darrenhuai and @gaborbernat.

Bug fixes

  • Keep the name of a seeded console_scripts entry that contains digits but does not end in a version, such as python3-config or 2to3, instead of truncating it at the first digit; python3-config overwrote the environment's python executable (#3451) by @JingHao-Leon and @gaborbernat.
  • Copy the content of a symlinked directory when a tree is copied into an environment, instead of dropping it (#3454) by @JingHao-Leon and @gaborbernat.
  • Count each -v, -q, -p and --try-first-with option once instead of once per internal parsing pass, so Session.verbosity is 3 rather than 9 for a single -v (#3457) by @darrenhuai and @gaborbernat.
  • Copy the seed packages instead of failing when VIRTUALENV_SYMLINK_APP_DATA or symlink_app_data in the config file turns on symlink seeding on a host that cannot create symlinks...
