In this example, the user `fred` has three authorization labels. The user `barney` has just one.

NOTE: When its JSON file lists any users, the JSON provider (`jsonFile`) reads the requester from Spring Security's `SecurityContextHolder`, so Spring Security (`spring-security-core`) must then be on the classpath. GeoServer provides it, and the GeoWave tools JAR includes it with GeoServer's libraries, but `geowave-adapter-auth` declares it as a provided dependency and does not bring it along. Without an _Authorization Data URL_ the provider grants no authorizations and does not need Spring Security. That is what the vector data store uses when no _Authorization Management Provider_ is set, since `jsonFile` is the first provider it finds.

NOTE: Additional authorization management strategies can be registered through the Java Service Provider Interface (SPI) model by implementing the {adapter-auth}/adapter/auth/AuthorizationFactorySPI.java[`AuthorizationFactorySPI`] interface. For more information on using SPI, see the link:https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/sound/SPI-intro.html[Oracle documentation, window="_blank"].

* GeoWave code running inside GeoServer uses GeoServer's ANTLR, which is older than the one GWQL
needs, so GWQL queries are not available there. GeoServer itself does not use GWQL.

*Distributed rendering removed, GeoWave 3.0.* The `geowave:DistributedRender` rendering
transformation and its example style, `DistributedRender.sld`, are gone, with the classes behind
them: the `org.locationtech.geowave.adapter.vector.render` package, `DistributedRenderProcess` and
`InternalProcessFactory`. Distributed rendering never took effect through GeoServer: from its
introduction in GeoWave 0.9.3, the plugin's GetMap callback looked for the transformation in a way
that could never match, so GeoServer rendered a layer with this style itself, like any other.
Remove the `<Transformation>` element from a style that uses it; the style then renders as it
always has.

*GeoServer is no longer in GeoWave's JARs, GeoWave 3.0.* GeoServer is licensed under the GPL, and
GeoWave does not distribute it. Distributed rendering was the only GeoWave code that used it, and
with it gone GeoWave no longer depends on GeoServer at all. In GeoWave 2.x, `geowave-adapter-vector`
and `geowave-adapter-raster` had GeoServer's `gs-wms-core` as a compile dependency, so the tools JAR
and the Accumulo and HBase JARs carried `gs-wms-core`, `gs-main`, `gs-ows` and `gs-platform`, and the
libraries that came with them.

* Those JARs no longer carry the libraries that only GeoServer used, among them Spring, Spring
Security, Apache HttpClient 5, XStream and FreeMarker, and the GeoTools modules for GeoPackage
(`gt-geopkg`), WFS (`gt-wfs-ng`), WMS and WMTS (`gt-wms`, `gt-wmts`), property files
(`gt-property`) and SVG (`gt-svg`). The `geotools-vector` ingest format of the tools JAR therefore
no longer reads through those data stores. The Accumulo and HBase JARs also no longer carry GeoTools'
GeoTIFF, image mosaic and image modules.
* A project that depends on `geowave-adapter-vector` or `geowave-adapter-raster` and used any of
these through it has to declare them itself.
* GeoServer still supplies all of this to the GeoServer plugin, which never included it, and
`geowave gs run` runs GeoServer from its WAR as before.

*S3 input uses the AWS SDK for Java 2, GeoWave 3.0.* Version 1 of the SDK reached end of support
at the end of 2025. GeoWave now lists and reads `s3://` input through s3fs-nio, on version 2 of the
SDK, instead of the `com.upplication` s3fs. The endpoint is still set with `geowave config aws`,
