Describe the bug
When the program it ends up using an alarming amount of my CPU (upwards of 20% on my 3950X)
To Reproduce
Attempt to run the tool and monitor CPU usage using a tool like btop
Expected behavior
Pretty low amounts of CPU usage for a monitoring program and not 25+% CPU usage from a python hardware monitor.
Logs
N/A
Screenshots / photos of the Turing screen
N/A
Environment:
-Debian 13 MINIMAL install (No GUI)
Turzx 5.2 Inch smart screen USB.
Additional context
See attached photos of btop from when my system is not running the script vs when it is (Of note is I run an entire minecraft server and multiple other things on this server and the smart screen tool is using more than ANY of those services)
Without Script Running
With script running. Note the 20% CPU usage on a 16 core system as it loads just about every core quite heavily.
I have a Ryzen 9 5950X and an 8.8" Turing Smart Screen (new V1.X hardware version). CPU usage stabilized at 6–8% after the modification to lcd_comm_turing_usb.py suggested by masuraoru. However, it still seems high to me; the CPU temperature is at 60°C, whereas the normal idle temperature without the python application running is 53°C.

I think it might be related to python libraries itself. Anyways I had to modify the files because my display wasnt being detected. Apparently it has non standar com protocol. I used AI to modify the files and was able to make it work. Displaying CPU temp, RAM usage and GPU temp was below 1% cpu usage.
EDIT: Note I was using a custom theme I made which was the OG minimalist black we have on turzx app, maybe check usage with different themes.

Hi.
Same issue here.
It is taking up to 10% cpu usage.
Thanks

In my case, the problem was solved by changing the PNG compression level from 9 to 1 in the _encode_png method (in lcd_comm_turing_usb.py).

How much did you use to have and what do you have now?

To be honest, I don't remember exactly - I think it was around 6–8%, but now it's less than 1%.
