Add meili facet-search, the one route of POST /indexes/{index_uid}/facet-search.
Contract
The command name and flags derive from its routes by the naming rules of docs/contract/commands.md, and each route is reachable by a distinct set of flags, or the exception is recorded with its reason (or this pull request changes the contract and nothing else)
Output goes through src/lib/output.ts, errors through src/lib/errors.ts
The command never waits for a human: no prompt, no question, no $EDITOR; a delete command spreads BaseCommand.confirmFlags and its examples carry --yes
The command never speaks HTTP itself: the SDK or the generated client only, no fetch outside src/lib/clients/
Tests
--help snapshot added or updated on purpose
JSON output snapshot for one success case per route and one error case
Integration test added (Meilisearch API commands only)
pnpm lint, pnpm typecheck, pnpm test pass locally
Simplicity
Nothing in the diff exists for a case the API cannot produce, a caller that does not exist, or a generality nobody asked for (rule 16)
Anything shared lives in src/lib/, is used by this command, and is named below
Docs
docs/contract/ updated for every name, flag, variable or code this change adds or renames, or nothing to update
The ADRs that touch this change were read; what they decide still holds, or a new ADR says what changed
No accepted ADR was edited. A new ADR was added if a decision changed.
Housekeeping
oclif.manifest.json regenerated
Changeset added, or the change is invisible to users of the package (docs of this repository, tests, CI)
New dependency justified below, or none added
Notes for the reviewer
No shared code added, no dependency. The command reuses connectionFlags, bodyInputFlags, readJsonObjectBody, asJson and asNumber. The POST …/facet-search exception row already existed in commands.md and api-naming.ts; this pull request adds the row to the routes table and one clause to rule 10, below.
Three things worth a look:
Two fields of the body have no flag, and rule 10 now says so.media and useNetwork are gated by experimental features (multimodal search and the network), so the command declares no flag for them and --data or --file still carries them to the API. Rule 10 listed the same fields for search and get documents; the sentence now names facet-search too. Everything else FacetSearchQuery declares is a flag.
--facet-query searches the values, --q and --filter narrow the documents they are counted on. Two queries in one command is the route's own shape, so the descriptions say which is which, and the integration test pins the difference: --filter 'rating > 4.2' keeps both values but drops a count from horror. --facet-name is not required in oclif, like every body field of the search commands: a whole body can arrive through --data, and the API answers missing_facet_search_facet_name on its own.
The error case is the one an agent will meet first. An attribute that is not in filterableAttributes answers 400 with invalid_facet_search_facet_name and a message that names the available patterns, so the CLI exits 1 and passes that message through untouched; the index that does not exist is the usual 404, exit 4. Both are snapshotted, both are in the integration test.
Ran the simplify skill on the diff. Reuse, simplification and efficiency found nothing. Altitude found one thing I applied: the flag object is now Partial<SearchForFacetValuesParams>, as search.ts types its own against SearchParams, so a misspelled field fails pnpm typecheck instead of travelling to the API; Partial because a body can also arrive whole through --data, which is also why --facet-name is not required in oclif. The known rule-8 merge duplication (search, update settings, here) still belongs to its own change, as #31 and #32 noted.
Added facet-search to find matching values for a filterable attribute and see how many matching documents contain each value. Results can be narrowed using a query and filters.
Accepts request parameters from a complete request body or individual command options. When both specify the same value, the command option takes precedence. Results can be returned in JSON format.
Documentation
Added facet-search to the command reference, including its endpoint and available options.
The pull request adds the meili facet-search command for searching values of a filterable attribute. It maps command flags and JSON body input to a facet-search API request, then outputs the response. Command and integration tests cover request mapping, facet results, and API errors.

Summary
Command contract and options .changeset/first-version.md, docs/contract/commands.md, oclif.manifest.json, src/commands/facet-search.ts
Registers facet-search for POST /indexes/{index_uid}/facet-search and defines its flags and command metadata. The changeset and command contract describe the command and its options.
Parameter mapping and request execution src/commands/facet-search.ts, test/commands/facet-search.test.ts, test/helpers/meilisearch-handlers.ts
Converts command flags to API parameters, merges defined flags over body values, and calls searchForFacetValues. Command tests and a mock handler cover request mapping, output, body input, and error handling.
Tests facet results with and without a facet query, document filtering, flag precedence over body input, and errors for a non-filterable attribute or missing index.

`search` types its own against `SearchParams`, and #33 types the one of
`facet-search` against `Partial<SearchForFacetValuesParams>`, so that a
misspelled field fails the typecheck. `SearchSimilarDocumentsParams` has no
`retrieveVectors`, which `SimilarQuery` of the OpenAPI document declares, so
the same annotation here would cost a documented flag. The comment says it.

* Add `meili similar`, the one route of POST /indexes/{index_uid}/similar
The command carries the fields of `SimilarQuery` as flags, `--id` for the
document to compare with and `--embedder` for the similarity to compute,
as rules 6 and 7 of the command contract derive them, and `--data` or
`--file` carries a whole body that a flag of the same field overrides.
The GET twin stays unimplemented, as its exception already said.

…facet-search
The command carries the fields of `FacetSearchQuery` as flags, `--facet-name`
and `--facet-query` for the values, `--q` and `--filter` for the documents
they are counted on, as rules 6 and 7 of the command contract derive them.
`media` and `useNetwork` get no flag, because an experimental feature gates
them: rule 10 names them now, and `--data` still carries them to the API.

src/commands/facet-search.ts:24-26 🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Require a facetName before the facet-search request is sent.
The flag does not need required: true. A facetName from --data or --file is a supported alternative. If neither the flag nor the body sets it, run() still sends the request without facetName. The Meilisearch SDK type marks facetName as mandatory, and the API specification says omitting it returns missing_facet_search_facet_name. The CLI should reject this input locally with cli_input_invalid, as readJsonObjectBody does for invalid body input.

Import MeiliCliError from the same module that src/lib/input.ts imports it from. That import path was not inspected.
