I would prefer putting the file into ./custom directory as this is excluded from git via the .git-ignore file and doesn't conflict with the git origin.

While debugging issues with customer deployments, it's also quite important that the configured api versions match the actual deployment. There might be an additional comment for the troubleshoot section to verify the api version of the mesh partners, e.g. by querying the /.well-known/ocm endpoint of the mesh partners. This may look like this:
