What

Add meili get batches, the one route of GET /batches.

Contract

  • The command name and flags derive from its routes by the naming rules of docs/contract/commands.md, and each route is reachable by a distinct set of flags, or the exception is recorded with its reason (or this pull request changes the contract and nothing else)
  • Output goes through src/lib/output.ts, errors through src/lib/errors.ts
  • The command never waits for a human: no prompt, no question, no $EDITOR; a delete command spreads BaseCommand.confirmFlags and its examples carry --yes
  • The command never speaks HTTP itself: the SDK or the generated client only, no fetch outside src/lib/clients/

GET /batches takes the same fourteen query parameters as GET /tasks and pages with the same from/next cursor, so the command reuses BaseCommand.fromPaginationFlags and nextFromQuery unchanged. The only difference is rule 5: bare uids are task uids everywhere, so here --ids carries batchUids and --task-ids carries uids, the mirror of get tasks. The contract already spelled that out (get batches --ids 7 --task-ids 1,2, rule 5), and the exception GET /batches/{batch_id} → none was already recorded.

Tests

  • --help snapshot added or updated on purpose
  • JSON output snapshot for one success case per route and one error case
  • Integration test added (Meilisearch API commands only)
  • pnpm lint, pnpm typecheck, pnpm test pass locally

pnpm test:integration passes against the local Meilisearch: 22 files, 82 tests.

Simplicity

  • Nothing in the diff exists for a case the API cannot produce, a caller that does not exist, or a generality nobody asked for (rule 16)
  • Anything shared lives in src/lib/, is used by this command, and is named below

Shared pieces touched, both used by this command now:

  • src/lib/task-filters.ts: the ten filters the four queue routes share move into a private queueFilterFlags / queueFilterQuery; taskFilterFlags and batchFilterFlags each add their own two identifier flags on top. No flag of get tasks, cancel tasks or delete tasks changes, and their --help snapshots are untouched.
  • test/helpers/meilisearch-handlers.ts: the cursor paging of the msw mock becomes one cursorPage function, called by the /tasks and /batches handlers.

Docs

  • docs/contract/ updated for every name, flag, variable or code this change adds or renames, or nothing to update
  • The ADRs that touch this change were read; what they decide still holds, or a new ADR says what changed
  • No accepted ADR was edited. A new ADR was added if a decision changed.

One row added to the routes table of commands.md. No new flag name, variable or error code.

Housekeeping

  • oclif.manifest.json regenerated
  • Changeset added, or the change is invisible to users of the package (docs of this repository, tests, CI)
  • New dependency justified below, or none added

Notes for the reviewer

One finding from the simplify pass was deliberately skipped: --reverse is declared in get tasks and again in get batches, three lines apart by one word, and it could move into BaseCommand.fromPaginationFlags. I left it where it is. That group is a documented row of the "Shared flag groups" table (--limit, --offset or --from, --all), and it holds pagination controls, not route parameters: a future cursor route whose API has no reverse would inherit a flag test/contract/api.test.ts would then reject. Say the word and I will move it with the contract row that goes with it.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added meili get batches to list task batches, with filters for batch IDs, task IDs, indexes, statuses, task types, cancellation, and timestamps.
    • Supports reverse ordering, cursor pagination with --limit and --from, fetching all pages, and JSON or NDJSON output.
  • Documentation
    • Documented the new command and its available filters.

`GET /batches` takes the same fourteen query parameters as `GET /tasks` and
pages with the same `from`/`next` cursor, so the command reuses
`BaseCommand.fromPaginationFlags` and `nextFromQuery` as they are. Only the
two identifier parameters change meaning: bare `uids` are task uids
everywhere, so rule 5 reads them here as `--task-ids` and the batch uids as
`--ids`, the mirror of `get tasks`. `src/lib/task-filters.ts` keeps the ten
shared filters once and each resource adds its own two.

The msw handler of the cursor is shared by the two routes rather than copied.

Walkthrough

The CLI adds meili get batches for listing batches through GET /batches. It supports batch and task filters, shared queue filters, reverse ordering, pagination, and JSON or NDJSON output. Mock and integration tests cover filtering, pagination, output, and API errors.

Changes: Batch Listing

Layer / File(s) Summary
Shared task and batch filters
src/lib/task-filters.ts
Adds batch filter flags and query mapping. Shares queue-filter mapping with task routes while retaining their route-specific identifier mappings.
Batch command and registration
src/commands/get/batches.ts, oclif.manifest.json, docs/contract/commands.md, .changeset/first-version.md
Registers get batches for GET /batches. Adds filtering, ordering, and pagination flags, and documents the command and its release.
Batch listing test coverage
test/helpers/meilisearch-handlers.ts, test/commands/get/batches.test.ts, test/integration/meilisearch/get-batches.test.ts
Adds batch fixtures and cursor pagination for mock handlers. Tests command output, query mappings, pagination, filtering, and invalid-status errors.

Model reverse ordering in the cursor mock and cover it with a pagination test.

cursorPage always sorts by descending UID, even when reverse=true. The current batch tests check only that the flag is sent. They do not assert the reverse response order.

Suggested fix
+  const reverse = params.get("reverse") === "true";
   const matching = all
     .filter((item) => uids === undefined || uids.includes(String(item.uid)))
-    .sort((a, b) => b.uid - a.uid);
+    .sort((a, b) => (reverse ? a.uid - b.uid : b.uid - a.uid));

Add a --reverse --all --limit 2 test that asserts the emitted UIDs are [1, 2, 3, 4, 5].

This is a test-model and coverage gap, not a demonstrated production failure.
